MUNCHINGPUT (VISAKHAPATNAM DT.): Tribals mobbed Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi at anthrax-hit Barda village, in Laxmipuram panchayat, in this mandal, about 190 km from Visakhapatnam, on Wednesday.
Mr. Chiranjeevi expressed concern over the plight of tribals and blamed the ruling party for failing to educate them and provide medicare. “It’s unfortunate that tribals are dying like flies due to malaria, viral fever and other infections,” he bemoaned.
Mr. Chiranjeevi, who was scheduled to fly back to Hyderabad, could not go due to inclement weather. Heavy rain lashed the agency belt making it difficult to fly. Tribal women applied turmeric on his forehead and offered garlands.
Earlier, he visited Lobburu primary health centre and interacted with medical officer G. Janardhanam.

During the dist level review meetings, he exhorted the party leaders to shun the political image and make PRP into a social organization and concentrate on identifying and solving problems at the local level.

Team of doctors visiting Nallamalla tribal areas

PRP is deputing a team of doctors headed by Dr.Mitra to visit the Nallamalla forest areas abutting Srisailam, where Chenchu tribals are dying of Malnutrition.
Chiranjeevi has said that PRP will take care of the medical facilities in the remote tribal areas since the government has failed to provide the basic ameneties to the people.
In a separate press conference in the party office, Senior leader of the Praja Rajyam, K. Vidyadhar Rao on Saturday criticised Chief Miister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for chilling out at Shimla while farmers in the State were suffering from power problems at the height of the agricultural season.
He said that it was akin to Nero playing the fiddle while Rome was on fire. Crops were drying up and farmers were suffering without a minimum support price for most of the produce. While prices of essential commodities were skyrocketing, Government was still not taking any corrective measures, he said.
Mr. Rao said that post-elections, it was as if Government was on a holiday. “When people suffer from skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and when farmers need minimum support price, it is expected of any Government to come to their rescue. This is not being seen here in this State,” he said. In such a situation, the State would be better off under the Governor’s rule or a regime of all political parties put together.
From nine hours of power a day, it had come down to seven hours and then to five hours only, he said, wondering why the power situation was this bad despite demand coming down .
Referring to the instance of poaching in Balmoor mandal of Mahbubnagar district, he regretted that there was no action on the poachers till Friday evening.
